 Creative Arts at the Lake

A couple of weeks ago I wrote an article on the special events going on for YogaChelan in November and the beginning of December. These are fantastic events that I plan on attending, but in case yoga is not your style I have several more events coming up that are guaranteed to help you unwind.

The best outlet for anxiety and stress is creativity. Sing your heart out in the car while taking a special drive around the water. Lake Chelan is gorgeous, but Manson is also home to some beautiful smaller lakes such as Wapato Lake, Dry Lake, and Roses Lake. We call this drive the Manson Scenic Loop!  Furthermore, these lakes are away from the main roads so traffic is never a problem. These smaller lakes are very close to one another so you’re not going to run out of gas while jamming to your favorite songs. If you’re brave enough, you can even attend Tin Lilly’s weekly karaoke night on Wednesdays. They can play any song you can think of.

There are also several painting parties going on in town this month. On November 11th, they will be painting the American flag at MVP Vintners to celebrate veteran’s day. For football fans, the Four Lakes Winery will be painting Seahawk symbols on the 12th of November. That painting would be the perfect Christmas gift or a final touch to the game-day lounge in your home. If you are planning to visit Manson later in the month, there are also classes on the 18th and 25th of November.

One thing I always do when I’m stressed is shopping. You may not think of shopping as inherently creative, but figuring out the perfect Christmas gift for the friend who has everything or matching the perfect articles of clothing takes a surprising amount of talent. With black Friday right around the corner there are plenty of deals to get your Christmas shopping completed. There is a pride that comes with shopping in small local businesses. The stores around here are so unique in their style that I guarantee you won’t find items like this anywhere else. You won’t have to worry about giving someone the same gift they had already gotten from someone else. You also won’t be forced to live through the horror of having your friends and family find the gifts you gave them on the clearance shelf at Walmart. We’re all on a budget, but we can’t let them know that.

Willow in Chelan is holding an open house on November 11th that includes a 20% discount storewide. They are the perfect place to pick up vintage accessories, botanical home décor, and feminine clothing. The sale is timed perfectly so you can enjoy the Veteran’s Day events and go shopping afterwards.

Allisons is holding weekly sales right now through the beginning of the new year. On Tuesdays, they have buy any item at regular price, get 50% off any item. Wednesdays through Saturdays they are selling items at up to 40% off! Wednesdays are the best days to find deals there. They specialize in artwork, kitchen tools and towels, and linens. Allisons of Manson is holding their open house on the 12th of November, when they’ll be providing guests with beverages and appetizers.

There are also plenty of hobby stores nearby that will be celebrating the season of giving with deals. In Chelan, we have Twisted Fine Yarn, Woven Threads Quilt Store, and the Culinary Apple Kitchen. They might not be announcing their deals just yet, but if last year is anything to go by then you can expect to score 50% off on some of their best items.

Naturally, I believe you should end the creative weekend by doing something to soothe your mind. Singing, shopping, and painting can help you forget about your worries, but yoga and massage can help you let them go permanently. We have several spas in the area including Bellamia, Deep Water Salon & Spa, and Inner Mountain Healing Arts. If you want everything to be perfect during the holidays then you can’t go wrong by giving yourself an adorable manicure or a new haircut.
