Fall into Wine
While I enjoy coming home from work to throw on a pair of sweat pants, drink from my wine tumbler, and binge watch Netflix, when I want to have some real fun, I grab my boots and head out into wine country. November is one of the best months for wine lovers. There is an event going on every single weekend in the valley. That is four excuses to grab the girls for a weekend getaway with our bedazzled wine glasses.
It begins on the 5th with Wapato Point Cellars hosting their 1920’s Speakeasy Party. Everyone is going to be dressed up in bow ties and flapper dresses. They are providing raffle prizes, a fantastic wine sale, and lots of food. There is going to be live music by Susan House and TLC Jazz Band. It is going to be the bee’s knees.
The absolutely gorgeous Siren Song is hosting two events the following week. The first one is a holiday cooking class on the 10th of November. Holly Brown will be teaching you how to make cranberry chutney, potato pie, pear hazelnut tarts, and more. Don’t worry, you’ll get to enjoy their wine parings while you eat your creations. At the end of the lesson you are given a “Siren in the Kitchen” apron to as a gift from Holly and all the recipes you need to impress everyone at the holiday party. (Did you miss the class? That’s okay, because Holly will be hosting a second class on the 17th of November.)
The second even from Siren Song is their Winemaker’s Dinner on the 12th. The event includes a 3 course dinner with each course being paired with a wine. You’ll be dining on salad, braised lamb shanks, potatoes, and rich chocolate. It is a romantic event for any couples looking for a luxury evening by the fireplace. End the night by taking in the breathtaking views from under Siren Song’s archway.
The third weekend of November there is going to be a huge event here at the Mountain View Lodge. We are going to do a murder mystery dinner on the 19th. Guests who stay here for two nights will be allowed to attend. We’re going to start emailing you a week before event to give you your characters and motives. Then on Saturday we’ll all try to discover which one of us is a murderer! Naturally, wine will be flowing and we’ll be eating too. I would recommend staying the whole week because the following weekend is fall barrel tasting.
The last weekend of this month holds the biggest event for wine drinkers. The annual fall barrel tasting begins on the 25th. Wineries all over the valley open and taste the new vintages right from the barrel. The Lake Chelan Winery will be hosting a tour of their facilities. Hard Row to Hoe will be teaching people about the wine making process and how barrel aging benefits red wine while tasting a Petite Sirah. Karma vineyards is welcoming long conversations at the tasting counter all weekend long. Basically, if you can find a winery in the Valley that weekend, then there is a good chance they’ll be participating. Use black Friday as an excuse to get over here. Everywhere is going to be having insane sales, including the winery gift shops. I’m going to be so broke by the end of this month.
Talk to you again soon,
